How do I set up my Christmas Card List to print envelopes?
What is the easiest way to get my Christmas card list which is in Microsoft Word set up to print my envelopes? Please be specific. Thank You.
Leaving the Mail Merge process itself out of the discussion, Word can take several different file formats as mailing lists. Usually, they’re in Excel or Access, but another Word file is also possible.
In general, separate your fields (first name, last name, the typical parts of the address) with a specific character that won’t normally occur in any of your text. A tab character or a semi-colon might do. A blank will probably not work.
Then, put each record (one name and address) on a single line. I would suspect and hope Mail Merge will accept a single paragraph, but I’m not sure.
When Mail Merge asks you for the Data Source, find and select this file. You’ll be asked about the field and record delimiters, and you’ll select the ones you set up above.
A word of warning. You’ll get the best use out of this if you re-use the list year after year, adding and subtracting names each year. The first year, with all the set up, is always the hardest. The payback comes after that.

Hp Improves Sme Printing
Hewlett-Packard, a powerhouse in the commercial printer industry, has recently launched an entire line of new printing solutions that are catered to small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The company hopes that, with this new line of printers and software packages, SMEs will be able to improve their marketing effectiveness, lower their printing expenses, and improve their overall productivity.
In its largest-ever commercial printing launch, HP rolled out a very broad range of commercial printing solutions. The company introduced over 25 new printers and some design and management software. These 25 new printers include color printers as well as multi-function printers.
HP claims that these new machines have been optimized for the SME industry. The new printers are highly capable of producing high-quality marketing materials, such as posters, brochures, and flyers. Everyday documents can also now be printed quickly and cost-effectively with HP’s affordable inks and toners.
Increase effectiveness, decrease expenses
To allow SMEs to produce their own marketing materials in house, HP has presented new color printing solutions. These will help SMEs boost their marketing effectiveness as well as lessen their printing expenses, as the new printers will allow SMEs to print professional-quality materials at very affordable prices.
The new HP Color LaserJet CP1215 Printer Series, for example, is HP’s cheapest desktop color laser printer yet. This printer series uses toner that can print up to 6000 pages per cartridge. The CP1215’s toner employs new HP ColorSphere technology, which increases the printer’s color range by up to 39%.
HP has also introduced new printing media, which will also aid in the improvement of SME marketing effectiveness. HP’s new 4” x 6” Color Laser Photo paper, for instance, is affordable, high-quality media. It is the world’s first heavyweight photo paper of its size designed for laser printers.
Improve productivity
HP has empowered SMEs to be more productive with the company’s new line of web-based printing tools. These tools are a part of HP’s Print 2.0 strategy.
Among the new tools recently launched by HP, the HP In-house Marketing (IHM) Starter Kit is most impressive. This kit is a comprehensive package of free tools, templates, and other materials that will aid SMEs in creating marketing materials.
In addition, HP introduced a very useful Print Cost Estimator. This is very powerful software that will allow SMEs to know in advance how much printing a set of documents will cost them. The SMEs will also be given cost estimations as print settings are altered. For example, an SME planning to print 100 colored brochures could be given an estimate on how much the printing would cost using high quality settings in comparison with the cost if draft quality settings were used.
HP has also launched a number of software packages that will help SMEs manage their business. HP’s new Jetdirect 690n 802.11b/g Wireless Network Server, for instance, allows HP printers to be conveniently shared over a wireless network. The company’s Easy Printer Care Software 2.5i (EPC 2.5i) is equally useful. This software allows businesses with multiple printers to view activity of their devices and maintain them as well, all from one workstation.

Using the new technology introduced by HP, SMEs now have the capacity to compete with larger businesses in terms of marketing effectiveness. SMEs can take advantage of HP’s cost-effective and productive printing solutions to produce high quality marketing materials.
